Idwala View offers luxury , 5 star, self-catering accommodation within the popular Mabalingwe Game Reserve. A mere 2 hours’ drive from Johannesburg, and a 1 hour drive from Pretoria is where one will find a mild climate (almost guaranteed with sunshine), Africa’s finest animals and a host of activities including horse-riding, guided and self-drive game drives, outdoor spas and breath-taking views. 

Idwala (the Zulu word for “rock”) View – “View from the Rock” serves as an ideal weekend getaway destination, the luxurious bush lodge boasts spacious bedrooms that extend to a generous deck area equipped with a swimming pool, bar and sundeck, making this an ideal spot to indulge in glorious sunset views (and sundowners). 

The beautifully furnished 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom lodge, oozes South African flavour – accommodating up to 14 guests, perfect for family gatherings and large groups. 

The main bedroom on the top level comprises a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom. The loft room has twin day beds and a downstairs shower. The downstairs bedroom comprises 2 twin beds, with en-suite bathroom. The 2 deck rooms which are accessible via the main deck each have king-size beds and 2 roller beds suitable for children. There is also an en-suite bathroom fitted with bath and shower.

The fully equipped kitchen features all the amenities required for a self-catering escape, equipped with stove oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher, whilst the spacious living area is furnished with comfortable couches, TV with DSTV and fireplace. 

The expansive wooden deck with entertainment area and outdoor seating offers breath-taking bushveld views. 

In addition to the tranquil surroundings and lush living spaces, a private game drive vehicle is available for hire. Guests may enjoy an exciting game drive where any of the 4 of the Big 5 may be encountered (lions are kept in their own enclosure)

The private watering hole, frequently visited by a range of animals, is an ideal alternative for those who would prefer the solace of observing animals from the comfort of the luxurious lodge.
