Wakene Beach Camp in Ponta Malongane offers Luxury Camp Sites with Private Kitchens & Ablutions as well as a stainless steel braai per site.

Ponta Malongane, 'Place of the Children', is situated on the Southern Mozambique Coast. It has a beautiful tropical coastline and is known for its scuba diving.

Nestled behind the main dune, within the coastal forest, lie ten secluded camp sites, each with their own private ablutions and kitchen. The beach is a short 300m-500m walk down the walkway.

These private camp sites are approximately 200-300sq m and can each accommodate up to 10 guests. Power and water is available at each site (guests to bring own drinking water). The ablutions for each site include a full bathroom with toilet, shower and basin plus an additional separate toilet and a kitchen/scullery.

The kitchen is supplied with 220V electricity and equipped with a double sink, 2 plate gas stove, 170L fridge/freezer and a kettle.

An outdoor shower is also provided with hot and cold water as well as a stainless steel braai.

Toilet paper and cleaning materials, including dish washing liquid are supplied and the sites are serviced daily (including cleaning of braai and ablutions, washing of dishes and raking of camp site).

A new laundry and storage facility has been built at Wakene. The storage facility provides additional fridge/freezer space if required. Guests are charged a compulsory laundry fee of R5.00 per person per day for their personal  laundry which is delivered to the camp site or guests may collect from the laundry.

Braai wood, charcoal and ice are also on sale at Wakene Beach Camp.

Wakene Beach Estate is an ideal base to explore the surrounding area and enjoy the indigenous coastal forest with prolific bird life and natural game on the estate. Access to this estate is restricted by a security controlled boom gate.

R500.00 refundable breakage deposit required when making your reservation

We had a wonderful stay, I would rate it as 4/5 (good)

Camp site 1 = shower door needs some mending rubber coming off the shower glass door, and the cold tap handle needs to be repaired.

Just general maintenance.

We were very happy with the entire setup although it was a bit of a walk to get to the beach, but we did book rather late. At our site, Nr7, we heard the washing machines going right through the night, although it was not overwhelming, some people may find it irritating... The cleaning staff member, Rosy, was friendly and looked after the site very well. Arlando at reception was very friendly and helpful. Some other staff, although very friendly and willing, struggled a bit with understanding English but they tried their best...

One area of the camping area is at a bit of an angle, not sure if I explain myself correctly, something Randolph mentioned when setting up camp, we could not pitch the tents there, which is a big area.

We enjoyed our holiday so much and would recommend the camp site to anyone. Unfortunately the plumbing and electricity took some strain, but this seems to happen over Christmas wherever you go on the coast in Mozambique!
