Barberton Mountain Lodge is situated approximately 7km from the quaint historical mining town of Barberton. The view from the lodge’s lofty heights, way up in the mountains, is nothing short of heavenly.
On a clear day, the views are endless. On a cloudy day, the big, soft, white, fluffy clouds lie before you, shrouding the town and the valleys below in a soft white blanket.
The mountains around Barberton are some of the oldest in the world, dating back 3.5 billion years – to a time when the first rocks occurred on earth. Fast forward to 1883 when gold was first discovered in Barberton and the gold rush boom began. Gold is still mined in the area today and the town has one of the richest gold and silver deposits in the world.
Accommodation at Barberton Mountain Lodge is provided in two self-catering cottages, Berghuisie and Houthuisie. Both cottages have 2 bedrooms - main room with double bed and twin beds in the second bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen, lounge, dining room and undercover patio with braai facilities. Each unit has a unique rock pool overlooking those spectacularly beautiful views.
The conditions in the area are ideal for paragliding and micro light flying. There are boundless mountain trails for 4x4 enthusiasts as well as for cyclists, horse riders and hikers.
These cottages in the clouds are perfect for anyone looking for a comfortable, rustic, mountain experience.
