High Corner Guest House in Grahamstown is one of the most treasured accommodation landmarks in the city.
This historical and elegant guest house is centrally situated opposite the Drostdy Arch entrance to Rhodes University and within easy walking distance from a number of restaurants, cafés and museums.
This refined home and guest house has been lovingly resorted but still features historical treasures such as a yellow wood staircase and floors, original Oregan pine panelling and spacious rooms adorned with Cape antiques and original artworks.
Accommodation at High Corner Guest House is provided in five bed and breakfast guest rooms as well as two self-catering cottages.
The guest rooms are beautifully furnished and feature en-suite bathrooms, warm wooden antique furniture and modern comforts such as air-conditioning, heated towel rails, satellite televisions and tea/coffee trays.
The two self-catering units, The Perch and The Messenger's Cottage are located behind the guest house in a separate courtyard. The Messenger's Cottage, the oldest cottage in Grahamstown (1814), was once home to Thomas Stubbs, the 1820 Settler. This restored cottage now accommodates 4 people and comprises 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, open plan lounge, dining area and kitchenette.
The Perch is a duplex cottage which accommodates 4 people in two en-suite bedrooms, open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen.
Wholesome breakfasts are served each morning in the elegant guest lounge. The vine clad terrace alongside the swimming pool is a tranquil area to relax. Or guests may choose to stroll through the city of Grahamstown and be captivated by the wealth of South African history which flows from this historic city.
