Tillietudlem Game and Trout Eco Lodge in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands is set on 2000 hectares in a secluded valley in Upper Dargle, approximately 35km from Howick. Offering an extraordinary eco experience with activities including fly fishing, game walks and strolling amongst the indigenous Nguni herd of cattle, Tillietudlem is a tranquil paradise.

Accommodation is provided in two separate lodges, Hlega Manzi Lodge (self-catering) and Ogram’s Colonial House which is on a Bed & Breakfast or Half/Full board basis.

Hlega Manzi Lodge is a rambling, comfortable lodge perched over a beautiful 30m cascading waterfall.  An expansive wooden deck overlooks the indigenous forest canopy to the majestic views of the Inhluzane Mountain in the background. With easy access to several well stocked trout dams and the river, this lodge sleeps 8 people in 4 double bedrooms with 2 bathrooms.  The warm and inviting open plan dining and lounge, characterized by natural stone walls, has an open fireplace for those chilly mountain evenings.  A sleeper couch in the lounge can accommodate 2 additional guests. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessary amenities for self-catering. Serviced daily, the lodge has DSTV, gas heaters and braai facilities. If preferred, guests staying at Hlega Manzi Lodge may also enjoy the scrumptious country breakfasts at Ogram’s Colonial House, served on the verandah with scenic views over the dams.

The 4 star rated Ogram’s Colonial House has magnificent views of the dams and mountains. This historical farm house features a wrap-around verandah, Oregon pine floors, sash windows, high ceilings and a roaring open fire place. Guests are accommodated in 5 beautifully styled double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.  All rooms are equipped with electric blankets, gas heaters and hairdryers and the house has Wi-Fi and DSTV. A choice of Bed & Breakfast or Full/Half board rates are on offer.

Guests are treated to first-rate cuisine at Tillietudlem, an organic vegetable garden provides fresh herbs and vegetables, scrumptious cakes are baked daily and breakfast and lunch hampers are available for country picnics.

The owner and management of Tillietudlem are passionately committed to protecting the threatened eco-system and to encouraging conservation in the area. A visit to Tillietudlem will expose you to a diversity of habitats where you will stumble upon a variety of nature’s treasures including Eland, Zebra, rare bird species and an abundance of wild flowers and indigenous trees.

The Upper Dargle area is renowned for being one of the best trout fishing locations in the country, due to the pristine water and high altitude. Tillietudlem offers exceptional and exclusive fly fishing for Rainbow and Brown trout in 4 dams and the Eland’s river.
