A swimming pool which is located near the Bush Camp is available for use by all guests. A viewing deck at the Beach Camp overlooks the ocean where guests enjoy socializing after a long hard day at the beach!

A new restaurant and bar, Sapphire Sands recently opened at the Beach Camp.  Guests can now enjoy an ice cold beverage and a delicious meal from the restaurant's deck overlooking endless ocean views.

GUEST REVIEWS FOR PHAMBUKA RESORT, PONTA DO OURO, MOZAMBIQUE

Friendliness: Good

Cleanliness:  Fair

Facilities: Average

Overall:  Average

I had a cold shower once or twice and the bathrooms in my opinion could be cleaned earlier in the mornings.  Both the men’s and the ladies ran out of toilet paper EVERY day.  In saying this we still had an enjoyable time and would definitely camp there again.

The facilities are very basic but we had water and hot water most of the time.  The camp and bathrooms are kept reasonably clean.  In the male bathroom, there was no mirror and suggest they remove the carpet tiles as it is not very hygienic, especially in the toilet cubicles.

Overall: Average

Facilities were not maintained, bathroom was not supplied with toilet paper, toilet seats were off. Window Sash's were screwed shut and would not open and because the facilities were not equipped with AC (which we were aware of) the room was heavily reliant on cross ventilation to deal with the December heat so the windows not being able to open made the stay extremely uncomfortable. Lastly the roof leaked when it rained, it ended up soaking the one guests bed. Friends of our group also hired another beach cottage on the same resort 2 cottages down and they also experienced the same issues as well as sliding glass door falling on guests , glass window panes falling out and a roof that leaked severely over their beds and elsewhere.

M. Allen (January 2017)

I was disappointed as the camp site was so small or could nearly fit 4 of us on there. As well as we were situated near a local house which played music until 3am everyday. This should not even be a campsite because you have no privacy and look onto the locals that were living In the house. The showers had luke warm water and it was no where from hot. I was very disappointed.

Generally we enjoyed our stay.

We never saw or heard from the owners/managers of the resort. The office was never manned when we went past the entrance

The ablutions were average. Mens ablutions only one of the 3 showers have curtains. No ventilation in ablutions.

There is no operational scullery where one can wash dishes.

There were times that there was no water in the showers.

The lookout deck is very basic. This in my opinion can be turned into a very pleasant area with a little TLC.

The pool is a very welcome addition to the resort. However the fibreglass edge to the pool has ragged edges which cut the foot of one of our party. Again this can be fixed with very little effort. Also a little shade around the pool will be welcome.

T. Steenkamp (March 2016)

This was one of the best holiday’s I had in a long time. The service, staff, friendliness and facilities I’ll give a 5/5. We had a blast and will definitely be visiting Phambuka again!!
