St Fort Country House is a beautiful self-catering house near Clarens (5km), situated on 2.2Ha of land in pristine country-side at the foothills of the Maluti Mountains and the famous Mushroom Rock.

This historical homestead which dates back to 1913, offers the finest in quality farm accommodation with six en-suite luxury bedrooms, antique furniture, comfortable beds layered with soft blankets, complimentary sherry, a spacious fully equipped kitchen with underfloor heating and a lounge with a log fireplace and DSTV.  Guests may also choose the option of a bed & breakfast rate.

There is an undercover verandah with views over the expansive garden, perfect for alfresco meals, braais and sundowners.

In addition, there is a separate garden cottage situated close to the main house which has an additional en suite bedroom, full bathroom and a kitchenette.

The largest bedroom (Room one) has a bath and shower, and can fit two extra beds. All the other rooms have showers. There are two single beds in each bedroom, and these can be made into double or kept single. For the cold winter months, oil heaters and electric blankets.

For smaller groups, rooms four and five can be booked separately to form a unit with its own lounge (with fireplace), kitchenette and verandah. This section is accessed by an inter-leading door which can be closed and locked.

The other three rooms (Rooms one, two and three) form the larger unit, also with its own verandah, lounge and spacious kitchen, which has under floor heating. Both the lounges have DSTV and log fires.

Guests may choose to book the whole house, either one of the self-catering units, or individual rooms.

For those who love to explore, St Fort offers four expertly laid out hiking trails, namely the two-day Cannibal Hiking Trail which caters for the keen and more adventurous hiker. It includes a night spent in a cave, complete with historic rock art. For a brisk morning or afternoon walk, there are three shorter trails. All these trails take you through differing landscapes, from breath-taking mountain views, overhanging caves, to river walks with numerous picnic spots, forest ambles and boulder hopping in and along gorges. The trails are well marked and provide all the amenities a hiker demands, from comfortable bedding, ablution with flush toilets and hot showers as well as a reed enclosure with braai facilities.

St Fort caters for weddings and conferences. It has the most magnificent sandstone barn, which can hold 250+ people, as well as a more rustic venue, The Stable, which can cater for 50-100 guests. The wedding couple may also make use of the Chapel on the farm.
